Worship will be led this morning by our Locum Minister, Rev Ruth Halley. Ruth’s usual working pattern is Sunday morning worship, Monday and Tuesday, working at the church and remotely. However, Ruth works flexibly and may be contacted by email at rhalley@churchofscotland.org.uk. In case of an urgent need for a Minister, the church mobile number is 07808 435384.

KIRK SESSION MEETING: There will be a meeting of the Kirk Session on Monday 4th November at 7.30pm in the Sanctuary. If you are unable to attend the meeting, please sign the apologies sheet on the table in the transept or email the Session Clerk.

RETIRING OFFERING: There will be a retiring offering taken today in aid of the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon (NESSL), a partner church of the Church of Scotland . This is following on from a letter received from the Moderator of the Church of Scotland to all congregations, asking that we pray for and support the NESSL.

NINE LESSONS & CAROLS: Rehearsals for this year’s Nine Lessons and Carols service (taking place on Sunday 15th December at 10.30am) will begin weekly from Thursday 24th October at 8.15pm in the church. Anyone who wishes to sing with the church choir for this service is very welcome to join us.

PRAYERS FOR HEALING LIST: Further to the item in September’s Good Neighbour, if anyone knows of someone who should be on the Prayer List, please speak to Gillian Foy or contact the office, so we can make sure that the list is up-to-date. Thanks for your help.

BIBLE READERS: There is a new bible readers rota sheet for October-December on the table at the back of the transept. If you are able to help with bible readings, particularly in December, please add your name and contact details to the sheet.

CHRISTMAS FAYRE: The Congregation, friends of Greenbank and the community are warmly invited to our Christmas Fayre on Saturday 7th December from 10.00am till 12.00pm. Tickets are £3 (children free) and will be on sale following Sunday worship, or can be purchased at the door (cash or card). Church organisations have been invited to run a stall so there will be a great range of things to buy, including delicious chutneys, conserves and home baking. Afterwards you are assured of a lovely cuppa and treats in the Fraser Hall. A donation box is at the link door for anyone wishing to contribute bottles for the choir’s tombola, unwanted gifts or Christmas crafts/items. The church halls will be open on Friday 6th December from 3.30pm till 6.30pm for setting up or to hand in home baking.

DONATIONS REQUIRED: The Link Building is open for all donations on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday mornings.

LHM DONATIONS: Donations for the LHM can be put on the trolley in the Link building. There is an urgent need at the moment for men’s underwear (especially sizes S and M) and ladies underwear (sizes S, M and L). Wool is still required for the LHM’s new project in 2025. All donations are very much appreciated.

GNE FOODBANK: There is always a need for tinned and packet foods (some people are vegetarians), UHT milk, juice and vegetable oil for the foodbank, along with toiletries. We also need undamaged carrier bags to give the packs out please.

ART EXHIBITION & SALE: The Linn Painting Group are hosting an Art Exhibition & Sale on Saturday 26th October from 10.00am till 4.00pm in Netherlee Pavilion, Linnpark Avenue, G44 3PL (behind Netherlee Primary School). Admission is £2 which will also cover a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits.

‘TO ABSENT FRIENDS’ PROGRAMME: The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice have provided information on a programme events being run by Glasgow Life on the subject of ‘To Absent Friends’ with events running during November. These include “Essence of a Memory Exhibition” (1st-14th Nov); “Author Event – Rodge Glass” (5th Nov); “Death Café” (8th Nov); “Author session – Helen Kellock” (9th Nov); and a new Grief Café which will be starting on 25th October at Castlemilk Community Centre.
