IT IS WITH SADNESS that we announce the death of Mrs Ena Lawrie of 37 Strathaven Road, Eaglesham. Mrs Lawrie’s funeral will take place on Monday 10th October at 2pm at Linn Crematorium. Please remember Mrs Lawrie’s family and friends in your prayers.

IT IS ALSO WITH SADNESS that we announce the death of one of our members, Mrs Annette Rutherford of 9 Greenholm Avenue, Clarkston. Mrs Rutherford’s funeral will take place on Tuesday 11th October at 11am at Greenbank and thereafter at 12noon at Linn Crematorium. Please remember Mrs Rutherford’s family and friends in your prayers.

IT IS ALSO WITH SADNESS that we announce the death of another of our members, Mrs Renee Sim of 109 Vardar Avenue, Clarkston. Mrs Sim’s funeral will take place on Thursday 13th October at 1pm at Greenbank and thereafter at 2pm at Eaglesham Cemetery. Please remember Mrs Sim’s family and friends in your prayers.

IT IS ALSO WITH SADNESS that we announce the death of Rev Archie Robertson.   Rev Robertson, Minister at Queen’s Park West from 1970-1977 and at Eastwood from 1977-1999, died on 6th October at the age of 83.   Please remember his wife, Christina, son and family.

CHRISTMAS CARDS will be on sale in the Fraser Hall after the service today and on all Sundays until 11th December to raise funds for the Lodging House Mission. Cards are £3.50 for a pack of 10. Come and see the selection during tea and coffee and support the LHM.

ARTICLES FOR THE NOVEMBER EDITION OF GOOD NEIGHBOUR should be received at the Church Office by Sunday, 16th October.                  

NOTICE FOR DISTRICT ELDERS – Communion invitations and the annual financial campaign envelopes for your district are now available for uplift from the front of the Centenary Chapel.

MINUTES OF THE LAST KIRK SESSION MEETING & THE SEPTEMBER PRESBYTERY REPORT are now available for members of the Kirk Session who did not receive them by email.

SCRIPTURE UNION BIBLE READING MATERIAL 2017– order forms are available for the reading material from the front of the church and the Link building. It would be very much appreciated if the order forms, together with a cheque made payable to Greenbank Parish Church, could be returned to the church by Sunday 16th October at the latest. TEA/COFFEE ROTA VOLUNTEERS STILL REQUIRED, please add your details to the rota in the Centenary chapel if you can help.

WHAT’S ON IN GREENBANK

A PRAYERS FOR HEALING SERVICE will take place in the CHURCH at 6.30pm tonight – all welcome. Prayer requests can be written on the pew cards and inserted in the Prayer Box at the front door of the church.

THE NEXT WALK OF THE GREENBANK WALKING GROUP is on Saturday 15th October, leaving the church at 9am. This walk comprises the completion of a further 5 miles of the Water of Leith Walkway towards Edinburgh City Centre and is almost totally flat. If you intend to join us, please contact Ann and Jim Guy on 638 5570.

ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AT 2.15PM our good friend, Wendy Sandiford, will be visiting the Guild. Visitors most welcome.

THE FRIENDSHIPSHIP CAFÉ– Come along and enjoy a coffee or tea and a bit of a natter with friends. The café meets each Friday except for the last of each month when the Lunch Club takes place.

SATURDAY MORNING BOOK CLUB – The next meeting takes place on Saturday 29th October at 9am for one hour with breakfast refreshments being served from 8.45am in Room A. We will continue to read from the OLD TESTAMENT COVENANT HISTORY – beginning at Samuel-King we will read to page 429.

 

THANKS to all members of the congregation, Sunday Club and Hazeldene Family Centre, Newton Mearns for the generous cash, food and floral arrangement donated to the Lodging House Mission following our Harvest Thanksgiving service last week.  All donations were very gratefully received and much appreciated.

MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT: 1st Clarkston Brownies are holding a coffee/cake evening on Monday 10th October 6.30 to 7.30pm in the church halls as part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.  If you are free please come along and join the Brownies and their families for a coffee/juice and a bit of cake.  If you are able, please bring home baking to serve or sell at the coffee evening.  C. THE OUTREACH GROUP AT MEARNSKIRK invites our friends at Greenbank on Tuesday 11th October at 7.30pm. Representatives from East Ren Foodbank and Glasgow’s Lodging House Mission will be speaking about the work of each organisation, how our donations are used and how our support could be taken forward in the future. The Christian motivation to help the disadvantaged and the Biblical imperative for social justice will also be considered. Please join us for an evening of fellowship, tea and cake.

IT IS CROSSREACH WEEK 2016 FROM 9TH TO 15TH OCTOBER – It starts with a service celebrating CrossReach and Social Care Sunday in Letham St.Mark’s Church in Perth at 4pm on Sunday 9th.  The service will be streamed live online and will also be available to watch as a recording later.  There will be regular updates during CrossReach Week about where the Moderator has visited on the website: www.crossreach.org.uk
