THE CHURCH OFFICE will be OPEN from 8.45am to 9.45am and 2pm to 4pm on Monday and for normal morning hours (9.15am – 12.15pm) on Tuesday, thereafter the office will be CLOSED until Thursday 15th September. If you have any intimations for next week’s service or Good Neighbour articles for the October edition, please send them to the church office by Monday lunch time.
SCRIPTURE UNION BIBLE READING NOTES for the next quarter are now available for those who ordered them in the Centenary Chapel .
FAIRTRADE GOODS will be on sale in the halls after the service TODAY.
DISTRICT VISITORS who have not already done so are asked to collect their copies of Good Neighbour and Life & Work from the room off the transept today please.
A PRAYERS FOR HEALING SERVICE will take place in the CHURCH at 6.30pm on Sunday 18th September – all welcome. Prayer requests can be written on the pew cards and inserted in the Prayer Box at the front door of the church.
THE CHURCH CHOIR restarts on Thursday 8th September at 7.30pm in the church; we would welcome any new members who would like to join us.
THE GREENBANK FILM SOCIETY commences a new season on Monday 12th September 2016 at 7.30pm in the Sesion House, with the first film of an interesting and entertaining programme which the committee hopes you will enjoy. The film, “The Out of Towners” is a hilarious comedy set in New York starring Jack Lemmon and Sandy Dennis and, with the tablet recipes having been looked out, it promises to be a satisfying experience.
THE NEXT OUTING OF THE WALKING GROUP to Maidens and Culzean is on Saturday 17th September, leaving the church at 9.30am. Please confirm to Allan or Ishbel Maclaren on 0141 639 5848 is you intend to come on the walk.
MOLIOS SAXOPHONE QUARTET RECITAL taking place in the church on FRIDAY 9TH SEPTEMBER AT 7:30PM. MUSICIANS FROM THE ROYAL CONSERVATOIRE OF SCOTLAND present an hour of classical piano music arranged for saxophones by Iain Clarke and Richard Scholfield. The recital will follow the evolution of the piano repertoire, featuring works by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Liszt, Chopin, Schubert, Debussy and Gershwin. Tickets £5, includes tea and coffee afterwards.
VOLUNTEERS TO READ THE BIBLE LESSONS OVER THE NEXT 3 MONTHS would be much appreciated. A new list is available in the Centenary Chapel and if you would be willing to read the lesson please add your name and telephone number to the service of your choice. You will be contacted on the Friday of the preceding week with the readings. Thank you.
TEA/COFFEE ROTA VOLUNTEERS ARE STILL REQUIRED for October, November and December. If you, or an organisation of which you are a member, are able to help please add your details to the rota in the Centenary Chapel opposite the date/s of your choice.
URGENT APPEAL: Greenbank has been invited to join St Joseph’s church to support the Edinburgh charity Re-act who need people to donate basic items for the refuges who arrive with nothing on the Greek island of Samos. The following items are urgently needed: socks, summer hats and underwear for all ages, towels, sunscreen, nappies of all sizes, baby cream, soap and push chairs (strollers). Small donations of money can be accepted to buy items from the list. The collections will be on 4th, 11th, and 18th September for transfer to Re-act to meet the last delivery for this year. ANYONE WHO WISHES TO JOIN OR KNOW MORE ABOUT GREENBANK; or knows someone who would appreciate a visit from the Minister in hospital or wishes to be prayed for, is invited to fill out one of the POSTCARDS placed on the pew boards. Completed postcards can be handed to welcome team members at the church door or posted through the letterbox at the entrance to the halls any time during the week.
