Church Service Intimations

IT IS WITH SADNESS that we announce the death of one of our elders, Mr Gordon Burnside of 20 Mansefield Road, Clarkston. Gordon’s funeral will take place on Thursday 29th March at 2pm at Linn Crematorium. Please remember Gordon’s family and friends in your prayers.

IT IS ALSO WITH SADNESS that we announce the death of one of our members, Mrs Christina Cross of Rowandale Nursing Home, Shields Road, Glasgow. Christina’s funeral will take place on Wednesday, 28th March at 3pm at Linn Crematorium. Please remember Christina’s family and friends in your prayers.

IT IS AGAIN WITH SADNESS that we announce the death of another of our members, Mrs Nancy Scott of 1 Glendoune Road, Clarkston. Nancy’s funeral will take place on Saturday, 7th April at 11am at Linn Crematorium. Please remember Nancy’s family and friends in your prayers.

THERE WILL BE A MEETING OF THE KIRK SESSION today at 11.45am in the church to approve the Annual Accounts for the year ended 31st December 2017. The accounts have been emailed to elders and associates and posted to those that are not on email.

AFTER THE MORNING SERVICE Jennifer Bisset will be selling Easter sweets and biscuits for “Restless Development” a charity which she will be volunteering for who work to empower youth to make change in their community. Jenny will be working in India through the International Citizens Service Programme. Jenny will also be selling tickets for a charity quiz night which she is holding on Saturday, 7th April at the church halls.

DISTRICT VISITORS are asked to collect their copies of Good Neighbour and Life & Work from the room off the transept today please.

MORE POSTIES REQUIRED – Greenbank needs your help to deliver the leaflets about the Easter and Holy Week services round the Parish. Bundles of leaflets with the street or part of street attached can be picked up from the front of the Centenary Chapel. Thank you very much in anticipation of your participation.

A VOLUNTEER IS REQUIRED TO HELP AT COSY CAFÉ – Your time commitment would be one Friday afternoon roughly every 6 weeks from 2.45pm till 4pm. A minimum of 2 adult volunteers will be helping each week as well as young volunteers. You would be required to make hot chocolate and toast for the young people and interact with them.

HOLIDAY CLUB: If anyone has any fairly heavy cardboard (old boxes etc.) that they don’t need, we would love to take it off your hands. We also need cardboard tubes (from kitchen roll etc.) Please leave your card and rolls in the labelled box in the Hall of Friendship. Thanks for your help as always. Gillian Foy (638-6245)

COULD YOU VOLUNTEER TO HELP AT THE SNAP YOUTH GROUP ON ONE SATURDAY NIGHT? If you can help on any of these dates please contact the church office or email snap@greenbankglasgow.org.uk

HELP REQUIRED, PLEASE – We have a large quantity of greetings cards which require sorting into categories prior to the Craft and Card Sale. Cards will be sorted in the Cowley Hall after church on Sunday, 8th April and volunteers are required, please, to do this. The sorted cards will be sold to raise funds for the Lodging House Mission. GREETINGS CARDS are on sale in the Fraser Hall after the service today. We also have Easter cards and knitted Easter chickens. All proceeds will go to the Lodging House Mission. Come and have a look.

SUNDAY MORNING TEA ROTA IS 2018 in the Centenary Chapel. If your organisation can offer its services for a few Sundays please add your details opposite the date/s of your choice. There are still plenty of dates to choose from!

 

WHAT’S ON IN GREENBANK

FAIRTRADE GOODS will be on sale in the halls after the service TODAY.

GREENBANK CRAFT & CARD SALE ON SATURDAY 14TH APRIL, 2PM-4PM. Tickets (£2) are now available from Lindy Dallas and other members of the social events committee. Come along and find some unusual gift ideas. Ticket includes entry, tea/coffee.

 

FRIENDSHIP CAFÉ, Friday @ 10am on 6th April. Why not come along to the Fraser hall for tea and a blether? Blair Miller (577 5449)

THE SIXTEENTH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the Lodging House Mission will take place at 7pm on Wednesday, 4th April at the LHM premises, 35 East Campbell Street, Glasgow G1 5DT. All are welcome to attend and find out a little more about the work of the LHM. If you would like to come along, please let me know – I can provide transport.

THE BOARD OF Lodging House Mission has made a decision to open permanently on a Sunday. LHM’s opening hours are now: 8am – 3pm,   364 days every year (closed NY day). This is a major step forward in our aim to provide food warmth, security and a host of backup services to Glasgow’s poorest and socially excluded citizens.

 

ANYONE WHO WISHES TO JOIN OR KNOW MORE ABOUT GREENBANK or knows someone who would appreciate a visit from the Minister in hospital or wishes to be prayed for, is invited to fill out one of the POSTCARDS placed on the pew boards. Completed postcards can be handed to welcome team members at the church door or posted through the letterbox at the halls’ entrance.

NB:  IN ORDER TO MAXIMISE THE LIFE SPAN OF OUR  DRAINS AND DRIVE WAY SURFACE, VEHICULAR ACCESS TO THE CHURCH IS ONLY FOR THOSE WITH LIMITED MOBILITY AND THOSE DELIVERING ITEMS TO THE CHURCH AND HALLS. YOUR SUPPORT AND COMPLIANCE WITH THIS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
