IT IS WITH SADNESS that we announce the death of one of our members, Mrs Margaret Kirk of 41 Muirfield Court, Muirend Road. Mrs Kirk’s funeral will take place on Friday, 27th January at 2.45pm at Linn Crematorium. Please remember Mrs Kirk’s family and friends in your prayers.

THE PRESBYTERY REPORT is available in the Centenary Chapel for those members of Session who did not receive it by email.

HAT’S ON IN GREENBANK

FAIRTRADE GOODS will be on sale in the halls after the service next Sunday, 29th January.

SATURDAY MORNING BOOK CLUB, 28TH JANUARY, ROOM A – The Book Club will meet at 9am for one hour with breakfast refreshments being served from 8.45am. The Book Club is for everyone – you don’t have to have a great knowledge of the Bible to take part. It is just an opportunity to get to know the Old Testament better. Why not give it a try? THE NEXT MESSY CHURCH takes place on Friday, 3rd February, 4pm – 6pm. Can you help us by giving us your old magazines? Please put your magazines in the box marked “Messy Church” in the Hall of Friendship. Thank you.

THE NEXT PRAYERS FOR HEALING SERVICE will take place in the CHURCH at 6.30pm on 5th February – all welcome. Prayer requests can be written on the pew cards and inserted in the Prayer Box at the front door of the church.

THE GUILD look forward to our “Burns” expert, Mr Jim Guy, visiting and entertaining us on Wednesday afternoon at 2.15pm. Visitors welcome.

LUNCH CLUB – A warm welcome awaits you on Friday 27th January with warm soup, delicious filled rolls, tea and coffee. We are looking forward to seeing you all. Maureen, Jan and all the team.

 

THE HOMELESSNESS SUNDAY SERVICE will take place at the Lodging House Mission, 35 East Campbell Street, Glasgow on Sunday, 29th January at 6.30pm when The Rev Dr Russell Barr, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland will be the guest speaker. THE VERY REV WILLIAM C HEWITT, Joint Presbytery Clerk of Glasgow Presbytery, has been engaged with the City Council over the provision for Unaccompanied Asylum seeking children who are coming to Glasgow next year.  He has suggested that faith communities may be a resource for the City Council who is looking for people to provide a home for these children.  If you are interested in helping; the times of information evenings can be found below and there is a poster on the Hall of Friendship noticeboard giving more information. ‘VOLUNTEERING VOCATIONS’, A GAP YEAR SCHEME FOR YOUNG ADULTS AGED 18 – 25, has been running since 2015. The programme offers a fantastic opportunity for young people to gain experience of the different types of work within a parish or project in a supported environment, whilst exploring any potential call to serve the Church in the long term. THE FLOWER LIST FOR 2017 is available on the transept windowsill. Anyone wishing to donate flowers is invited to add their name at the date of their choice.

ANYONE WHO WISHES TO JOIN OR KNOW MORE ABOUT GREENBANK or knows someone who would appreciate a visit from the Minister in hospital or wishes to be prayed for, is invited to fill out one of the POSTCARDS placed on the pew boards. Completed postcards can be handed to welcome team members at the church door or posted through the letterbox at the entrance to the halls any time during the week.
