THE CHURCH OFFICE will be OPEN on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday next week.

VOLUNTEERS TO READ THE BIBLE LESSONS OVER THE NEXT 3 MONTHS would be much appreciated. A new list is available in the Centenary Chapel and if you would be willing to read the lesson on one or more Sunday’s, please add your name and telephone number to the service of your choice. We are always looking for new volunteers, so even if you have never read the lesson before please consider adding your name to the list. You will be contacted on the Friday of the preceding week with the readings. Thank you.

THERE WILL BE A MEETING OF THE KIRK SESSION ON MONDAY 22nd August. Papers are now available in the Centenary chapel for those members of the Kirk Session who have not received them by e-mail.

TEA/COFFEE ROTA VOLUNTEERS ARE STILL REQUIRED for 4 Sundays in October, 6th November and the whole month of December. If you, or an organisation of which you are a member, are able to help please add your details to the rota in the Centenary Chapel opposite the date/s of your choice.

URGENT APPEAL: Greenbank has been invited to join St Joseph’s church to support the Edinburgh charity Re-act who need people to donate basic items for the refuges who arrive with nothing on the Greek island of Samos.

The following items are urgently needed: socks, summer hats and underwear for all ages, towels, sunscreen, nappies of all sizes, baby cream, soap and push chairs (strollers). Small donations of money can be accepted to buy items from the list. The collections will be on 4th, 11th, and 18th September for transfer to Re-act to meet the last delivery for this year. GOOD NEIGHBOUR RESTARTS ON 28TH AUGUST –   a volunteer is urgently required for district 36 (6 homes Falkland Avenue/Herndon Court area). If you can help please phone Margot or Gordon Blyth (638 7646).

THE ANNUAL LODGING HOUSE MISSION sponsored cycle will take place on Saturday, 3rd September. Please support the LHM by taking part or by sponsoring the Greenbank team of Mark, Jennifer and Heather Allan, Val and Neil Scholfield, and Bill Stein. A sponsor form is available in the Fraser Hall during tea and coffee, or you can obtain a registration form for the event from me if you would like to take part. This is a great opportunity to raise funds for the LHM. This year the event will end at the LHM, so this is a wonderful chance to see their premises if you have not done so before. Thank you for your continued support. There is a shortage of marshals for the sponsored cycle event and help with this would be appreciated. SUPPORT A WILLIAMWOOD HOUSE FUNDRAISER – Come along to an evening of dancing to singer, Christian, on Wednesday 31st August at 7.00pm in Stamperland Church Hall. Tickets cost £5 and all proceeds go to Williamwood House Care Home. Tea, coffee and home baking will be provided but you can bring your own drinks.

TWO BIKES suitable for young children left over from the jumble sale – call John Meek (644 2839) if interested.

GLASGOW NE FOODBANK – Tinned, packet and UHT food would be warmly welcomed. Donations can be placed in the boxes situated in the Hall of Friendship or the Link Building. Alex Howie (638 5169).

ANYONE WHO WISHES TO JOIN OR KNOW MORE ABOUT GREENBANK; or knows someone who would appreciate a visit from the Minister in hospital or wishes to be prayed for, is invited to fill out one of the POSTCARDS placed on the pew boards. Completed postcards can be handed to welcome team members at the church door or posted through the letterbox at the entrance to the halls any time during the week.
