IT IS WITH SADNESS that we announce the death of Mr Robert J. Fairley of Flat 7, Broom Court, 68 Broompark Drive, Newton Mearns. Mr Fairley’s funeral will take place on Thursday, 25th January.at 11am at Linn Crematorium. Please remember Mr Fairley’s family and friends in your prayers.

AS PART OF “PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY WEEK” Clarkston Churches Together has once again organised a pulpit exchange. Our minister, Jeanne, is preaching at Stamperland Parish Church and we welcome Rev Tom Nelson, minister of Netherlee Parish Church, who will be conducting worship at Greenbank this morning.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE [or a group of people] to take on the task of looking after Greenbank’s hall letting system.  If you feel that this is something you could do or if you would like more information, please contact our Minister Jeanne (644 1395) or our  Session Clerk, Derek Christie (638 0044)as soon as possible.

SUNDAY MORNING TEA/COFFEE ROTA IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR 2018 in the Centenary Chapel. If your organisation can offer its services for a few Sundays please add your details opposite the date/s of your choice. There are still plenty of dates to choose from – 4th and 11th February being the first dates still in need of volunteers this year.

THE LATEST EDITION OF THE CROSSREACH NEWS is available in the hall of Friendship.

HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL DAY – On Tuesday, 23rd January at 7.30pm East Renfrewshire Council will jointly host a memorial event with Renfrewshire Council in St. Ninian’s High School, Eastwood Park, G46 6UG. During the event, Dr Elwira Grossman from the University of Glasgow will give a presentation on “The Power of Words”. Two members of our congregation have been invited to attend. ALL ARE INVITED TO ATTEND THE HOMELESSNESS SUNDAY SERVICE, which will take place at the Lodging House Mission, 35 East Campbell Street, on Sunday, 4th February at 6.30pm. The guest speaker this year is the Rt Rev Dr Derek Browning, the current Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. There will be an opportunity to have a chat over a cup of tea or coffee after the service. I will have some space in my car if anyone requires transport. Alison Allan (638 3916)

WHAT’S ON IN GREENBANK

THE GUILD will meet on Wednesday afternoon when our speaker will be Joy Blair. Her subject is ‘Burns the Volunteer’. All welcome.

FRIENDSHIP CAFE meets on a Friday at 10am in the Fraser Hall, except on the last Friday of the month when you are invited to the Lunch club instead. All are most welcome to both activities.

VOLUNTEERS TO READ THE BIBLE LESSONS OVER THE NEXT 3 MONTHS would be much appreciated. A new list is available in the Centenary Chapel and if you would be willing to read the lesson please add your name and telephone number to the service of your choice. We are always looking for new volunteers, so even if you have never read the lesson before please consider adding your name to the list. You will be contacted on the Friday of the preceding week with the readings.

ANYONE WHO WISHES TO JOIN OR KNOW MORE ABOUT GREENBANK or knows someone who would appreciate a visit from the Minister in hospital or wishes to be prayed for, is invited to fill out one of the POSTCARDS placed on the pew boards. Completed postcards can be handed to welcome team members at the church door or posted through the letterbox at the entrance to the halls.

NB:  IN ORDER TO MAXIMISE THE LIFE SPAN OF OUR  DRAINS AND DRIVE WAY SURFACE, VEHICULAR ACCESS TO THE CHURCH IS ONLY FOR THOSE WITH LIMITED MOBILITY AND THOSE DELIVERING ITEMS TO THE CHURCH AND HALLS. YOUR SUPPORT AND COMPLIANCE WITH THIS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
