Church Service Intimations

IT IS WITH SADNESS that we announce the death of one of our members, Mr Stanley McQueen, of 56 Hilltree Court, Giffnock.

Mr McQueen’s funeral arrangements are still to be made. Please remember Mr McQueen’s family and friends in your prayers.

DISTRICT ELDERS can now collect their communion invitations and Kirk Session Coffee Morning tickets from the front of the Centenary Chapel.  Elders without districts & Associates should also collect their Coffee Morning tickets from the same location.

THE KIRK SESSION COFFEE MORNING will be held on Saturday 25th March this year; your continuing support will be appreciated. Tickets, price £2 (Children £1) are now available from Elders and Associates. Alan Veitch (639 8138)

VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED AT AIDAN’S VIEW – One person is required to make tea and coffee for residents of Aidan’s View assisted living complex on a Wednesday morning from 10.30am (for half an hour) and it is hoped that a rota of volunteers can be set up for this purpose. If you think you can help please add your name and preferably your email address if you have one to the designated sheet in the Centenary Chapel.

THE GREENBANK COLOUR CIRCLE would like to thank all who supported our 19th Annual Art Exhibition. We were pleased to be able to present CHAS with a cheque for £1,076 and the CHAS stall realised another £300. Thank you again for all your support.

VOLUNTARY ACTION EAST RENFREWSHIRE would like people in our area to complete a questionnaire for them. The questionnaire is for all ages, is short and anonymous and can be collected from the church door, church office or from weekly organisations. Once completed, please place in the box provided in the hall of friendship. Thanks for your help.  Hilary Carswell

TEA/COFFEE ROTA: The rota is now available for 2017 in the Centenary Chapel. If your organisation is able to help, even if only for a couple of Sundays, please add your details opposite the date/s of your choice.

 

WHAT’S ON IN GREENBANK

ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THE GUILD look forward to a talk by Chris Scott entitled “TV Humour”.

THE LUNCH CLUB meets in the hall this Friday, 25th February at 12noon.  Everyone is welcome to join us for soup, filled rolls, a cuppa and a chat.  For more information phone Jan on 258 4959 or Maureen on 639 5114.

THE BREAKFAST LENTEN BOOK CLUB 2017 takes place in the church from 8.45am on 4th & 18th March and 1st & 15th April. If you would like to come, please add your name to the list in the Centenary Chapel and take a study book. This year’s study book is “Sharing Faith” published by Church of Scotland, Mission & Discipleship Group.

GREENBANK CHURCH IS HOLDING A SPRING CRAFT FAIR on Saturday 11th March from 2-4pm in the church halls. With over 30 stalls taken by local crafters and businesses it’s sure to be a busy afternoon. Come along and show them your support and find some unusual gift ideas. Tickets are on sale at £2 and include entry and tea/coffee or just pay at the door.

 

THINKING ALLOWED AT CAIRNS – The Roy Paterson Memorial Lecture will be given at Cairns Church, Milngavie on 23rd February by Rev Julie Nicholson.  Tickets (£10) for this lecture are now available from the Cairns Church office at 11 Buchannan Street, Milngavie, mob: 956 4868 or email: office@cairnschurch.org.uk   As a large turnout is expected it is recommended that you might want to purchase your ticket in good time. HAWTHORN COURT SOCIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE invites you to an afternoon tea on Saturday 25th February, 2pm –   4pm. This invitation is particularly for people who find themselves alone on a Saturday afternoon. If you would like to come along please add your name to the list in the Centenary Chapel and tick the column provided if you require a lift or contact the church office on 644 1841 or greenbank.office@tiscali.co.uk It is hoped that this will be the first of many monthly ventures at local assisted living complexes.

CHRISTIAN AID: The 37th annual Art Exhibition and sale takes place on March 11th at the Carmichael Hall at Eastwood Park Leisure Centre next to the swimming pool. This is the same venue as last year. Please note the date in your diaries/phones. Entry will be by catalogue, and further details will follow. Please watch for intimations and advertising posters. I hope that you will continue to support this popular annual event by coming along to view and to purchase some of the work on display; with a percentage of the sale price going to Christian Aid. The entry to the exhibition is £2.50 (£1 for children) and includes tea or coffee in the tea room which is also a popular place to meet friends and view the work on display.

CHRISTIAN AID WEEK CELEBRATES ITS 60TH ANNIVERSARY THIS YEAR and several events are planned including a Jamboree event to be held on 25/2/17 from 1-5pm in Langside Parish Church. At this event you can hear about the breadth of the work of Christian Aid from the new head of team Sally Foster-Fulton, get ideas and resources, support each other, and take part in an ideas swap. If you would like more info about this event, speak to Mark Allan or look up the events link from the Christian Aid website.

ANYONE WHO WISHES TO JOIN OR KNOW MORE ABOUT GREENBANK or knows someone who would appreciate a visit from the Minister in hospital or wishes to be prayed for, is invited to fill out one of the POSTCARDS placed on the pew boards. Completed postcards can be handed to welcome team members at the church door or posted through the letterbox at the entrance to the halls any time during the week.

NB:  IN ORDER TO MAXIMISE THE LIFE SPAN OF OUR  DRAINS AND DRIVE WAY SURFACE,  VEHICULAR ACCESS TO THE CHURCH IS ONLY FOR THOSE WITH LIMITED MOBILITY AND THOSE DELIVERING ITEMS TO THE CHURCH AND HALLS. YOUR SUPPORT AND COMPLIANCE WITH THIS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
