PRESBYTERY IS WORKING WITH THE NATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS TEAM on a pilot programme, initially for one year, to train and support a group of volunteers from congregations (a) to develop communications skills (especially in social media) in the life of their churches and (b) to share these skills more widely across Presbytery. This is a great chance to improve your own skills and to help your own church and others. Two full-day workshops have now been arranged, for 17 August (Social Media Fundamentals) and 24 August (Audio & Video Storytelling), each from 10am–4pm in Gorbals Parish Church. Places at these workshops have initially been offered to those who attended the Presbytery Media Event in April however, a few places are still available. Although the events are free, we are looking for a commitment from participants to be part of what we believe is an important and exciting project over the next year. Places will normally be limited to no more than two people from any congregation. Please contact the Presbytery Office to book a place (glasgow@churchofscotland.org.uk/0141 332 6606.
Rev Dr Graham K Blount, Presbytery Clerk, 0141 332 6606.
THE SOCIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE has trialled afternoon teas in various locations and feels this is something that is worthwhile continuing in an effort to help combat loneliness in our community, particularly amongst the elderly. Volunteers from the congregation are required for this initiative, namely drivers, servers and bakers. If you would like to volunteer please add your name to the list in the Centenary Chapel or contact the church office at greenbank.office@tiscali.co.uk or on 644 1841.
