INTIMATIONS 1/5/16

IT IS WITH SADNESS that we announce the death of one of our elders, Mr Gordon Hamilton of 33 Mearns Road, Clarkston. Mr Hamilton’s funeral took place on Saturday at Linn Crematorium. Please remember Mr Hamilton’s family and friends in your prayers.

A MEETING OF THE KIRK SESSION will be held after church on SUNDAY 8TH MAY to consider the following options for the timing of worship services during a 6 week holiday period beginning on 3rd July.

  1. A short informal family service from 9.30am to 10.00am followed by a 10.30am service omitting the youth slot and following the normal summer order.
  2. One service at 10am following the normal summer order

DISTRICT ELDERS: Your June Communion invitations are now available for uplift from the front of the Centenary Chapel. Please note that all 3 Communions i.e.10.30am, 3.00pm and 6.30pm will take place on Sunday 5th June.

COPIES OF THE APRIL PRESYTERY MEETING REPORT are available in the Centenary Chapel for members of the Kirk Session who have not received the report by email.

CHRISTIAN AID is encouraging churches to host a Big Brekkie Fundraiser 15th May to raise funds for and highlight the beginning of Christians Aid Week.  We need volunteers to make this happen so if anyone would like to help with this could they please contact the minister, or the church office, as soon as possible.

CHRISTIAN AID WEEK 15-21st May. Volunteers are needed to fulfil our target of visiting every home within the Parish to carry out door to door collections. If you would like to be a collector, please come to the front of the church following the service on 15th May where you will receive an envelope containing all you will need to collect within your allocated district. Donations should be returned to the church on Friday 20th May between 7pm and 9pm, or on Tuesday 24th May between 7pm and 8pm. Volunteers are also required to count the donations on these evenings. Please consider supporting Christian Aid either by collecting or by helping with the count.  Your help will be invaluable and will make a difference to those in greatest need throughout the world. GLASGOW NE FOODBANK has had wonderful support from Greenbank and once again is looking for further donations. This year the amount going out has been increasing and the foodbank is giving out 200-400Kg per month more than it’s gets in. Donations of tinned, packet and UHT food would be warmly welcomed. Donations can be placed in the boxes situated in the Hall of Friendship or the Link Building. Alex Howie.

NATIONAL YOUTH ASSEMBLY 2016 please note NYA will now take place on 19th – 22nd August NOT 12th – 15th August.

DISTRICT VISITORS who have not already done so are asked to collect their copies of Good Neighbour and Life & Work from the room off the transept today please.

NEW DISTRICT VISITORS ARE REQUIRED FOR DISTRICT 36 (BROOM/WHITECRAIGS). If you can help contact Margot or Gordon Blyth (638 7646).

TEA/COFFEE ROTA VOLUNTEERS STILL REQUIRED: The rota is now available for 2016 in the Centenary Chapel. If your organisation is able to help please add your details opposite the date/s of your choice.

SAINSBURY’S ACTIVE KIDS VOUCHERS are being collected by John Meek for B.B. equipment. (There is a designated box in the Hall of Friendship). As the date for redemption is approaching, please give John any remaining vouchers as soon as possible.

 

WHAT’S ON IN GREENBANK

A PRAYERS FOR HEALING SERVICE will take place in the CHURCH at 6.30pm next Sunday – all welcome. Prayer requests can be written on the pew cards and inserted in the Prayer Box at the front door of the church.

FAIRTRADE GOODS will be on sale in the halls after the service next Sunday, 8th May.

THE GUILD OUTING is on 9TH MAY NOT 11TH MAY as originally planned. Jan Millar (639 0373).

ON THURSDAY 5TH MAY AT 7.30PM, a 60-strong youth choir from the Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium (High School) in Nagold, near Stuttgart, Germany will be performing in Greenbank. The youngsters are very musical and highly motivated and have already toured Europe with their choral repertoire. Entry to the concert is free but a donation would be greatly appreciated. Please come along and support the young people. They have come a long way to entertain us so let’s give them a special Greenbank welcome.

TICKETS FOR THE COMMUNITY CHOIR SUMMER CONCERT taking place on Wednesday 1st June at 7.30pm are now available from members of the choir or from the church office.

A CONCERT by the FP BIG SWING BAND conductor Grace Hamilton takes place on TONIGHT at 7.00pm in Busby Church, in aid of the Kwenderana Partnership. Tickets £5 (Children free) are available from Bill Allan(644 1725) or pay at the door.

ANYONE WHO WISHES TO JOIN OR KNOW MORE ABOUT GREENBANK; or knows someone who would appreciate a visit from the Minister in hospital or wishes to be prayed for, is invited to fill out one of the POSTCARDS placed on the pew boards. Completed postcards can be handed to welcome team members at the church door or posted through the letterbox at the entrance to the halls any time during the week.

NB:  IN ORDER TO MAXIMISE THE LIFE SPAN OF OUR  DRAINS AND DRIVE WAY SURFACE,  VEHICULAR ACCESS TO THE CHURCH IS ONLY FOR THOSE WITH LIMITED MOBILITY AND THOSE DELIVERING ITEMS TO THE CHURCH AND HALLS. YOUR SUPPORT AND COMPLIANCE WITH THIS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
