IT IS WITH SADNESS that we announce the death of one of our members, Mrs Catherine Anderson (Rena), of 10 Windlaw Park Gardens, Muirend. Mrs Anderson’s funeral will take place on Wednesday 17th August at 12noon at Linn Crematorium. Please remember Mrs Anderson’s family and friends in your prayers.
TODAY WE WELCOME the friends and family of Melissa and Jonathan and their son, Brodie Coll. Brodie will be baptised this morning. We pray that as he seeks to follow Jesus, Brodie will know His love and presence in his life.
THIS MORNING WE WELCOME ANDREW THORNE who will be accompanying worship.
THE SUNDAY SERVICE returns to its usual time of 10.30am on 21st August. Sunday Club also resumes next week.
THE INSTALLATION OF THE NEW BOILERS by British Gas is now well underway. Please note that the Flower room will be unavailable for use until mid-September due to refurbishment.
THERE WILL BE A MEETING OF THE KIRK SESSION ON MONDAY 22nd August. Papers are now available in the Centenary chapel for those members of the Kirk Session who have not received them by e-mail.
ARTICLES FOR THE SEPTEMBER EDITION OF GOOD NEIGHBOUR should be received at the Church Office today.
A PRAYERS FOR HEALING SERVICE will take place in the CHURCH at 6.30pm tonight. Prayer requests can be written on the pew cards and inserted in the Prayer Box at the front door of the church.
GREENBANK WALKING GROUP – On Saturday 20th August the group will be walking the West Highland Way from Milngavie to the Birch Tree Inn (8 miles) leaving the church at 9.30am. For further information please contact Douglas Robertson (639 7780) or Bill Dougherty (577 6069).
THE ANNUAL LODGING HOUSE MISSION SPONSORED CYCLE – SATURDAY, 3RD SEPTEMBER. Please support the LHM by taking part or by sponsoring the Greenbank team of Mark, Jennifer and Heather Allan, Val and Neil Scholfield, and Bill Stein. A sponsor form is available in the Fraser Hall during tea and coffee, or you can obtain a registration form for the event from me if you would like to take part. This is a great opportunity to raise funds for the LHM. This year the event will end at the LHM, so this is a wonderful chance to see their premises if you have not done so before. A parishioner of St Joseph’s RC church, Fiona Hamilton, is starting AN APPEAL AT ST JOSEPHS FOR THE SYRIAN REFUGEES who are currently located on the Greek island of Samos. The refugee camp in Samos is run completely by independent volunteers who rely on donations both physical and financial. Fiona’s is appealing for donations of nappies (for the babies/toddlers), baby wipes, kids sun-cream, toiletries, strollers (used) and any unwanted children’s clothes & shoes. A charity in Edinburgh, Re- Act (http://www.re-act.scot) would be delighted to take donations on their next (& final) lorry load to Samos this year. SUPPORT A WILLIAMWOOD HOUSE FUNDRAISER – Come along to an evening of dancing to singer, Christian, on Wednesday 31st August at 7.00pm in Stamperland Church Hall.
