VOLUNTEERS TO READ THE BIBLE LESSONS OVER THE NEXT 3 MONTHS would be much appreciated. A new list is available in the Centenary Chapel and if you would be willing to read the lesson please add your name and telephone number to the service of your choice. We are always looking for new volunteers, so even if you have never read the lesson before please consider adding your name to the list. You will be contacted on the Friday of the preceding week with the readings.
PET SHOW FUN DAY 16TH SEPTEMBER 2017 GREENBANK CHURCH HALLS – Small Animal Show – Registration 12pm for rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, rats, reptiles and birds; Fun Dog Show – Registration 1.45pm. Dog Agility, Charity Raffle, Meet the Owls, Ask the Vet.
ALL MEMBERS OF THE CONGREGATION are invited to bring an item of non-perishable food, from the following list, to our Harvest service on Sunday, 1st October. To assist the LHM with sorting and storage, they would be very grateful if you would only donate items on their list which you will be handed out at morning services nearer the time. Thank you.

THE GREENBANK FILM SOCIETY will meet for the new session on Monday 11th September at 7.30pm in the Session House when the multi award winning movie “All About Eve” will be shown. The superb cast features Bette Davis, Anne Baxter and George Sanders at their best in a film that is a true Hollywood Classic. All welcome.

MOLIIOS SAXAPHONE QUARTET AUTUMN TOUR: 4 students from the RCOS will present a varied programme of music at Giffnock South Parish Church on Saturday 16th September at 7.30pm. Tickets £5 are available at the door.
CHRISTIAN AID SCOTLAND AND ECO-CONGREGATION are supporting Scotland’s new Climate Change Act. Please help by filling in one of the “Act For Our Future” postcards in the link building and sending it freepost to Christian Aid. Deadline is 15th September.
GROWING DEEP AND WIDE – MINISTRY WITH CHILDREN AND FAMILIES – Lucy Moore, the founder of Messy Church, will be the main speaker at this event. A number of practical workshops will be run, exploring issues such as Maturing Messy Church; Discipling families; Borrowing from our church traditions; and Inter-generational church. It is being organised by Church of Scotland in partnership with Messy Church Scotland and Stirling Presbytery. It will take place on Sat 23 September 2017 from 10am – 4pm at North Parish Church, 70 Springfield Road, Stirling, FK7 7QW. If anyone would like to go to this event please contact the church office as soon as possible so that a ticket can be ordered for you.

CHRISTIAN AID SPONSORED SWIM The annual sponsored swim will take place on Saturday 7th October at Eastwood swimming pool. Sponsor forms are available from the Hall of friendship, and from Mark Allan and Ron Livingston. SAYING GOODBYE SERVICE 30TH SEPTEMBER AT 11AM IN GLASGOW CATHEDRAL, organised by the Mariposa Trust, this service is for anyone who has either personally lost a baby at any stage of pregnancy, at birth or in early years, or who has been affected by a family members or friend’s loss. Whether the loss was recent or 80 years ago, everyone is welcome to attend. We have also extended the services, and gladly welcome anyone who is grieving the fact that they haven’t had children. This may be due to circumstance, infertility or for other reasons – but all are welcome. Babies and children are also invited to come with their family, as the Saying Goodbye service is truly a family event for all. THANKS to all who sponsored Bill, Mark and Heather in the Lodging House Mission sponsored cycle. The morning of Saturday, 26th August was rather wet, but they completed the 18 mile event and managed a smile at the finish. Greenbank has raised the magnificent total of £781 which will increase with Gift Aid. Thank you for your generous support, and well done to our cyclists.
THE ANNUAL SENIOR CITIZENS CONCERT is fast approaching and there are a number of tickets still available.
The concert is FREE and provides an afternoon of musical entertainment and an opportunity to meet friends, old and new. It will take place on Sunday 8 October in the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, Cambridge Street, Glasgow from 2pm till 5pm.
Tickets for the event and transport – available from a number of pick-up points across East Renfrewshire – are free of charge. Ticket orders should be placed by Friday 22 September. AGE CONCERN EASTWOOD Do you have a free hour to help in the local community? We need help at our office which is situated in Eastwood Park, beside the swimming pool. Full training is given and the time commitment is flexible. We are also looking for volunteers to help at our social lunch clubs which are based at Albertslund Hall, Westacres (Tuesdays) and Woodfarm Pavilion (Thursdays). The clubs run from midmorning to the early afternoon but you decide your time commitment. ANYONE WHO WISHES TO JOIN OR KNOW MORE ABOUT GREENBANK or knows someone who would appreciate a visit from the Minister in hospital or wishes to be prayed for, is invited to fill out one of the POSTCARDS placed on the pew boards. Completed postcards can be handed to welcome team members at the church door or posted through the letterbox at the entrance to the halls.
