Although the Guide programme has been constantly adapted to meet the changing needs of the girls, the principles and aims of the original idea of Guiding remain unchanged.
Brownies and Guides
This is the youngest section of the Girl Guide organisation. The girls can join at 5 and remain in Rainbows until they enter Brownies at 7. At the moment the Rainbows meet in the Church Hall on a Tuesday (1st Rainbows) or a Wednesday (2nd Rainbows) evening from 6.00 – 7.00pm during school term time, where they enjoy a variety of activities..
There are three Brownie packs within Greenbank and any girl between the ages of 7 and 10 is very welcome to come along. Within each pack, songs are sung, games are played, things are made, visits are undertaken and there are pack holidays and, of course, lots more. After making their promise, the girls make an imaginary journey every year: footpath, roadway, and highway. As they travel, they must learn new skills or improve on old ones. At the end of her highway journey, the Brownie will be ready to move to Guides. 1st Brownies are on Monday, 1st A Brownies on Thursday and 2nd Brownies on Tuesday, all at 6.30pm
There are two Guide companies connected with Greenbank who meet on the following evenings: 1st Guides on Monday and 3rdA Guides on Tuesday. Each Company welcomes girls aged from 10 – 14 years to join them for a variety of activities, from crafts and badge work to trips and camps. They meet from 7.30 to 9.30pm.
