Eastwoodhill Coffee Morning

This will be held in Giffnock South Parish Church halls from 10am till noon on Saturday 9th April. The Friends of Eastwoodhill are hoping to raise enough through this event to buy a special chair for use by the residents. These cost around £1500 so we’d appreciate all the help you can give. Greenbank Parish Striders (G.P.S.)  Need Your Trainers!

With you wearing them  of course! We’re not Paula Radcliffe, Mo Farah, or even Jessica Ennis! But we enjoy our running,  jogging, strolling and STRIDING. We meet  outside the  church  on  a Monday  evening at  6.30pm,  and  then  we  do  a sociable  run  of anywhere between 2 miles and  10k.  (That latter  distance is of course  a way to con you into doing  6 miles!) Book Club Clarkston

During Lent a number of people came to the Lenten Book Club on Saturday mornings and we managed to read to the end of the book of Numbers. The conversations were informal, informative and enjoyable and those who took part decided that they would like the Book Club to continue. The Saturday Morning Book Club will therefore continue once a month. COPY OF TRIBUTE READ IN CHURCH ON 13th  MARCH 2016 JOAN STEWART Joan Stewart, one of our elders, died on the 5th of February. Joan was born in Glasgow in November 1936 and was baptised in Greenbank Church on the 6th  April 1937 whilst  living  in  her  grandparents’  new  house   in  Hillview Drive.   Her  mother had  travelled   from  the Argentine  with Joan’s elder sisters, Peggy and Lillian, to ensure  Joan was born in Scotland. Baptism at Greenbank

Jamie was born on Monday 15th December at 6.03am at Calderdale Hospital Halifax. He weighed 8lb 3.5 oz. His parents are Kirsty and Anthony Birks and he has a big sister, Alice. His godparents are Alastair Cowan, Kirsty’s brother, and Kirsteen MacDonald, one of Kirsty’s best friends from school. Everyone had a lovely day apart from perhaps Jamie who, it turned out, had a perforated eardrum! It was especially nice that Alastair came all the way from Australia to be his godfather....
