Shawl Ministry

The second meeting of the Shawl Ministry Group in conjunction with our twinning partners, Craigend East and Garthamlock Parish Church, took place on Saturday 12th March at Greenbank where we heard some inspirational stories about the creation of the shawls. Upon completion, a final blessing is offered before shawls are sent on their way accompanied by a written prayer/blessing for a recipient. Some recipients have continued the kindness by making a shawl and passing it onto someone in need. Thus, the blessing of the shawl ripples from person-to-person, with both the giver......

LODGING HOUSE MISSION EASTER APPEAL Please support the Lodging House Mission this Easter by making a cash donation. The LHM regrets if it seems that they are repeatedly asking for money, but the reality of their work is that they can only continue to offer food and shelter to Glasgow’s homeless and hungry through the kindness and generosity of churches like ours. The recent 36th annual Christian Aid Art Exhibition and Sale took place in Carmichael Hall on Saturday 12th March. Once again it was well supported by local and invited artists who entered approximately 300 art works. The event was very busy with the tea room area well filled for much of the day. A particular thank you must   deservedly go to the willing volunteers who helped serve many cups of tea and coffee throughout the event. Downs Syndrome Awareness

The charity that is closest to my heart is Down’s Syndrome Scotland (DSS). Sixteen years ago, on Sunday 21st February, my sister gave birth to her third child, Amy, and soon after was told by the doctors at Yorkhill Hospital that Amy had Down’s Syndrome. My sister’s world was turned upside down. She had to grieve for the child that for 9 months she thought she was having and start accepting an uncertain future.
