Vocations Volunteering with the Church of Scotland

‘VOLUNTEERING VOCATIONS’, A GAP YEAR SCHEME FOR YOUNG ADULTS AGED 18 – 25, has been running since 2015, and has proved a positive and inspiring experience for volunteers and their placement congregations alike. Harvest Sincere thanks to all members of the congregation and Sunday Club departments for the donations of cash and food given at our Harvest Thanksgiving Service. Our food donations filled one car completely, and a large floral arrangement was also much appreciated. A letter of thanks has been received. Thanks are also due to the staff and children of Hazeldene Family Centre, Newton Mearns, who responded to the Harvest appeal with a further car load of food and a cash donation. The Clarkston and District Christian aid committee has been busy fundraising over the past session in a variety of events. The treasurer’s report summarises the results of the various activities as follows: Greenbank contributed £864 to the £3,724 raised in last year’s sponsored swim in October 2015. The total income from the Annual Art exhibition held in March 2016 was £11,432. Profit from the event was £4,274 after artists’ fees and expenses. Figures for the Annual Christian Aid week door to door collection in May 2016 show that Greenbank collectors gathered £3,776,......

Greenbank Church Clarkston Winter Fair

Now that the summer holidays are over, it is time once again to think about winter activities and in particular the highly popular and successful Fair known this year as the Winter Fair which this year is on Saturday, 12th November from 10.00am – 1.00pm. Harvest Sunday Appeal

All members of the congregation are invited to donate non-perishable food items to the LHM at our Harvest service on Sunday 2nd October. URGENT APPEAL

URGENT APPEAL: Greenbank has been invited to join St Joseph’s church to support the Edinburgh charity Re-act who need people to donate basic items for the refuges who arrive with nothing on the Greek island of Samos. The following items are urgently needed: socks, summer hats and underwear for all ages, towels, sunscreen, nappies of all sizes, baby cream, soap and push chairs (strollers). Cancellation of Worship ServicesCorona Virus Response

Church of Scotland Task Group has asked in the strongest terms, that all gatherings for worship should cease until further notice, with effect from Wednesday 17th March 2020. This will obviously include the Easter services.
