THIS WEEK’S INTIMATIONS
TEA AND COFFEE is served in the Fraser Hall after the service-all welcome.
IT IS WITH SADNESS that we announce the death of one of our members, Mrs Marjorie Melrose of 3 Bridges Care Home, Carmunnock Road. Mrs Melrose’s funeral will take place on Friday, 25th October at 1.45pm at Linn Crematorium. Please remember Mrs Melrose’s family and friends in your prayers.
THIS MORNING WE WELCOME Rev James Whyte who will be conducting our worship.
OUR MINISTER WILL BE ON HOLIDAY until the 25th October any pastoral request should first be directed to the Session Clerk, Derek Christie at 638 0044 or the Depute Clerk, Peter Liddell at 638 7870.
REMEMBRANCE DAY POPPIES are now available before and after the morning service at the front door of the church and in the link building.
SLEEPING BEAUTY – The Runway Theatre Group, who rounded off our 135th Birthday Party so wonderfully, donated their services for free. In return, we have agreed to make a block booking for one of their productions. We are therefore proposing a church outing to their pantomime during the first week in December. In order to gauge numbers, preferred dates and whether transport would be worth arranging, there is a sheet on the table in the Centenary Chapel where you can express your interest and find out more information about tickets prices. It should be great fun and, from what we heard at the party, the quality of the singing will be outstanding.
GREENBANK’S YOUTH SERVICE takes place next Sunday. All our youth organisations will be participating in a parade, weather permitting, before and after morning worship. As the 223rd B.B. Company is celebrating its 95th anniversary this year, former members are invited to join the parade.
DISTRICT ELDERS Communion invitations, Christmas Fair tickets and financial campaign envelopes are now available for collection from the front of the Centenary Chapel. Communion takes place on Sunday 3rd November.
DISTRICT VISITOR VACANCY – anyone willing to volunteer for the new district in Newton Mearns (8 homes – some each side of Mearns Cross) please contact Margot or Gordon Blyth (638 7646).
THE LODGING HOUSE MISSION Christmas card collection will be on sale after the service today in the Fraser Hall. Cards are £4 per pack of 10. Cards will be on sale each Sunday until 8th December.
CHRISTMAS FAIR – SATURDAY 23RD NOVEMBER. There will be a meeting of anyone helping at the Fair on Sunday 27th October after morning service to finalise arrangements. Donations for all the various stalls (as outlined in Good Neighbour) can be brought along at any time and placed in the box marked “Christmas Fair” in the Hall of Friendship. Your support is very much appreciated.
THE GUILD GUEST NIGHT is on Wednesday at 7.30pm. We are delighted to welcome back ‘Piggery Brae’ who have provided marvellous evenings for us in the past. We hope to have a good response from other local guilds.
PRACTICES FOR NINE LESSONS AND CAROLS – The Church Choir will begin rehearsing for the Nine Lessons and Carols service on Thursday 31st October at 8pm in the church. We warmly invite anyone who wishes to sing with us at this service to come along to the rehearsals – you don’t need to be able to read music and a CD of the various choir pieces is given out to help with learning the music. This year’s Nine Lessons and Carols service will take place on Sunday, 15th December at 10.30am. For further info please speak to the organist, P. Howard
LUNCH CLUB meets on Friday 25th October 12noon till 1.30pm for soup, filled rolls, tea, coffee and biscuits. If you require transport please contact Jan Maureen at the church office 644 1841. See you there.
COFFEE MORNING – in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support @ Garthamlock and Craigend Parish Church on 22nd November. Any donations of knitted items for one of their stalls very welcome. Items can be left at Greenbank’s church office.
