Intimations - previous weeks

The intimation for the last few weeks are given here with the latest first. It is hoped that this will help everyone to catch up with church news

Intimations for 29/01/2012

TEA AND COFFEE will be served in the Fraser Hall after the morning service. All welcome. 

For the next three Sundays tea, coffee and home baking will be served in the Fraser Hall after the morning service by Jenny Bisset and Rebecca Mayer in order to raise funds for their Malawi Project.

IT IS WITH SADNESS THAT WE ANNOUNCE the death of one of our members, Mrs Isobel Watson of Buccleuch Avenue, Clarkston.  Mrs Watson’s funeral will take place on Tuesday 31st January at 3pm in Linn Crematorium.  Please remember Mrs Watson’s family and friends in your prayers.

DISTRICT VISITORS ARE ASKED TO COLLECT their copies of Good Neighbour and Life & Work from the room off the transept today please.


THE NATIONAL YOUTH ASSEMBLY 2012 takes place in Dundee from Friday 10th August to Monday 13th August.  If you are interested in debate and worship with other young people and are aged 16 to 25 please contact Hilary ** for an application form.


LORNA PREECE HAS STARTED AN EASY EXERCISE CIRCUIT FITNESS CLASS on a Monday afternoon between 1pm and 2pm in the Cowley hallFor more details please phone Lorna **

THE TEA/COFFEE ROTA FOR 2012 can be found in the Centenary Chapel.  Would all our organisations please choose a month when they are willing to help and write the name of their organisation on the list that month.  Thank you.


The FLOWER LIST FOR 2012 is now available on the transept windowsill.  Anyone wishing to donate flowers is invited to add their name at the date of their choice.


IF YOU KNOW OF ANYONE WHO IS IN HOSPITAL and requires a visit from the minister please add their name and hospital details to our “Hospital Book” which can be found in the Centenary Chapel


If you need PRAYER for yourself or someone else, use the PRAYER CARD, which can be found at the end of the pews & place it in the box in the church vestibule. Or contact Jeanne Roddick (644 1395) or the Prayer Promoter

WHAT’S ON AT GREENBANK

A TALENTED GROUP OF LADIES CALLED “MELODY BOX” will be entertaining the Guild on Wednesday afternoon at 2.15pm.  We know this will be a most enjoyable afternoon.  Please feel free to come along and join us for the entertainment and a cup of tea.


GREENBANK’S Friendship Cafe takes place on Friday 3rd February.  All are welcome between 10am and 11.30am in the Fraser Hall.

FRIDAY SERVICE: There will be a short service of worship at 11.30am in the church transept every Friday.


THE NEXT MEETING OF THE MANSE BIBLE STUDY GROUP will take place on Wednesday, 1st February, 7.30pm-9pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

WHAT’S ON ELSEWHERE

EKWENDENI PROJECT - The Ekwendeni Partnership Group of Churches is holding a Craft Table Top Sale in Busby Parish Church on Saturday 11th February from 10am till 12noon in aid of funds to complete the building of the two classrooms at Ekwendeni.  Any members/friends of the congregation who are involved in craft making (jewellery, sewing etc.) are invited to participate.  Charge to stallholders is £10 for a small table.  Tickets are available at a cost of £2 per adult and £1 per child from Ian or Bill ** or from our church office.  Further information can be had from Maureen Potter, a member of the committee, Bill or  Ian **

AS PART OF “THE WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY” Clarkston Churches Together has organised a pulpit exchange.  Today we welcome Mr Iain McCallum to Greenbank.  Jeanne will be with the congregation of Cartsbridge Evangelical Church this morning

WHY DON’T YOU MAKE JOINING THE CHURCH your New Year resolution for 2012? Our Minister, Jeanne Roddick has arranged an informal meeting for anyone who might be interested on Saturday 28th January 2012 at 10.30am.  A crèche will also be provided to look after children.

LIFE & WORK: The January issue of Life&Work magazine is available now. Would subscribers please uplift their copies from the Flower Room as the next Good Neighbour delivery will be the February issue.  2012 Subscription renewal details are enclosed within this, the January issue, with the annual cost remaining unchanged at £21.60 for 12 issues.  Cheques should be made payable to the Church, enclosed in the envelope provided, and placed in the offering bags.  Ian

GREENBANK’S LUNCH CLUB takes place on Friday 27th January.  All are welcome between 12.30pm and 2pm in the Fraser Hall.


ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AT 2.15PM THE GUILD IS TO BE ENTERTAINED by pupils from the Music Department of Williamwood High School.  Many of us will have heard these talented young people before so know that this should be a very pleasant afternoon.  Visitors will be most welcome.

A PRAYERS FOR HEALING SERVICE will take place in the upper room above the vestry tonight, 8th January at 6.30pm - all welcome.  Prayer requests can be written on the pew cards and inserted in the Prayer Box at the front door of the church.


YOUTH FELLOWSHIP BACK AT GREENBANK (S1 and up) Looking for something to do on a Sunday night?  In the halls there will be games, sport (football, badminton, table tennis, snooker, chess etc.) socialising and simply chilling out listening to music.  A tuck shop will “sweeten” the experience even more.  Join us every 2nd Sunday evening in Greenbank church halls, starting 8th January.  Just bring along £1 for a whole evening of fun! THE GREENBANK FILM SOCIETY will hold its first meeting of the New Year on Monday 9th January at 7.30pm in the Session House.  The film for the evening will be the award winning “Hannah and her sisters”, directed by and starring Woody Allen.  This is one of Allen’s best works and, with the aid of a stellar cast, which includes Michael Caine and Mia Farrow, is not to be missed.  All welcome.


CHURCH OF SCOTLAND HIV/AIDS PROJECT – SOUPER SUNDAY – NOW TO BE HELD IN FEBRUARYThis will be an elder led, morning service with a focus on HIV and the Project, followed by a simple fellowship lunch of soup and bread.  Participants are invited to donate to the project in lieu of paying for their lunch.   Could anyone interested in helping out at our Souper Sunday please speak to our minister, Jeanne (644 1395) or Karine  **
