Prayer of the week
I've introduced a new page which has the
last few week's intimations. I thought it
might be useful for those who have been on holiday to see what happened while
they were away.
Tea and coffee will be served in the Fraser Hall after the morning service. All
welcome.
Volunteers to read the Bible lessons over the next three months would be much
appreciated. A new list is available in the Centenary Chapel and if you would
be willing to read the lesson on one or more Sundays, please add your name and
telephone number to the service of your choice. We are always looking for new
volunteers, so even if you have never read the lesson before please consider
adding your name to the list. You will be contacted on the Friday of the
preceding week with the readings. Thank you.
Next Sunday, 12th
September we look forward to welcoming the Rev Graham McGeoch, Minister from St
Andrew’s Church of Scotland, Lisbon here to Greenbank.
Graham is a former member and elder of Greenbank and he is coming back to
Scotland as a member of the executive of the World Council of Churches. He will
be staying at Carberry next weekend and on the
Sunday
evening there will be a national service, to mark Racial Justice Sunday and the
launch of Minority Ethnic Churches Together in Scotland, at 6pm at Wellington
Church of Scotland, Glasgow. This is a significant occasion as we seek to develop
relationships with the growing number of migrant and ethnic minority churches in
Scotland. The service will be attended by national church leaders and the
preacher will be Rev Dr Larry Pickens, WCC Executive member from the United
Methodist Church, USA. The Scottish African Gospel choir will sing before and
during the service.
Graham will be at
this service and everyone from Greenbank is encouraged to attend as well. The
service begins at 6pm with the choir singing from 5.30pm onwards.
At the end of the service the WCC Executive will return to Carberry by coach.
