GREENBANK
PLAYERS
The Club held its AGM on Monday 26th April and as always the two
most important items on the agenda were feedback on this year's production
and the disbursement of funds.
I am very pleased to say that the reports on
our Triple Decker trio of one-act plays seem to be very encouraging. I do
think that it is good to have a change of format from time to time and it
appears that our faithful audiences agree!!
The ongoing support from our army of fans
plus the steady drawing in of new victims works wonders for the bank balance
and this year we again have a very healthy sum to give to local charities.
The following 5 good causes will each receive £150:
Crookfur Cottage Homes, Erskine Hospital, Lodging House Mission
RNLI Troon and Ruchill Autism Unit.
Instead of giving our usual donation to the Church directly to the Fabric
Fund (£500) this year we will use the money to make much needed improvements
to the lighting system.
It is not quite as bad as Little Grimleys yet but getting that way!!!
Stephen is in charge of the project and we are expecting great things!
The new Reading committee meets just after you read this in Good Neighbour
and by the time the next issue comes out I hope we will have the 2011
production picked.
Have a good summer.

THANK
YOU TO THE DISTRICT VISITORS
The Publicity Committee
would like to offer its thanks to the District Visitors who, for a variety
of reasons were unable to attend the coffee morning on Saturday 22nd
May. We therefore reproduce here the words spoken that morning in praise of
their commitment and the important role they play in Greenbank:
“Now I
come to you, last but certainly not least, the District Visitors. You used
to be called ‘Lady Visitors’ and as it happens you still are! No men have
volunteered for one of the most important jobs in the church. You don’t
just deliver the magazine – important as that is. You are the main contact
between the members and the church and the elders. In a conversation with
Jeanne recently she reminded me of how important that contact and the
magazine is to many of our members who cannot attend church as often as
they’d like or even at all. You are also the face for many who have stopped
attending that reminds them that we are there for them. This year you will
have done that on nine occasions, literally in all weathers. So thank you,
Ladies. This morning is for you in particular, to show you that you are not
unsung heroes and to let you know you how much you are appreciated and
valued. Thank you all of you |
