SCRIPTURE UNION (S.U.)

Scripture Union is an international Christian charity which operates in approximately 140 countries around the world and is dedicated to supporting all Christians, new and existing, on their life long journey of faith.  It aims to help all children, young people and adults to explore and respond to the good news of Jesus Christ and His significance for their lives as well as encouraging all followers of Jesus to become active in their churches and communities in serving a hurting world in great need.

Much emphasis is placed on training programmes for teachers, school group workers and volunteers.  This training greatly enhances the outreach work undertaken with children and young people in our schools.  Holidays and weekend breaks are organised  for thousands of young people in their local environment or whilst on holiday in that area.  Many children, often from deprived backgrounds, benefit greatly from the Easter and summer camps held at venues up and down the country.  S.U. has two residential centres – one at Lendrick Muir, Kinross and the other at Alltnacriche near Aviemore – where much use is made of the excellent indoor and outdoor recreational facilities on offer.  These centres are often used by church groups for conferences and short breaks.

Here in Greenbank – usually at the beginning of November each year – order forms are available for the next year’s supply of Scripture Union Bible reading notes/guides.  Forms are available at both church entrances and should be returned to me as soon as possible but no later then the 23rd November please.  I know many people who have grown in their understanding and knowledge of Scripture and their relationship with God, through the use of these notes.
