GREENBANK FILM SOCIETY

The second full season of the Greenbank Film Society drew to a close in April with the showing of the classic Ealing Comedy, “The Ladykillers”, with the Session House resounding to almost two hours of constant laughter.

Last season’s programme comprised a short tribute to and retrospective of Katharine Hepburn’s career, together with a selection containing musical, romantic comedy and contemporary issue films.  It is the committee’s aim to offer as near a complete cinematic experience as possible and at present is hard at work compiling next session’s programme and hopes the resulting list will meet the members’ approval and that attendances continue to rise.

The format of the evening is that the film is viewed with a cup of tea or other refreshment, and afterwards a general discussion on the film takes place with anecdotes, snippets of interest, how it was publicly received, bits of gossip etc. thrown in.  Have I mentioned the tablet!!

So if you like a night at “The Pictures”, please come along; you will be made most welcome.  The new season starts on Monday 6th September and copies of the new and enticing programme will be available soon.

That’s all folks!

Jim, Secretary

PARACHUTE JUMP

In June 2010 staff working at the co-op in Eaglesham Road, Natasha, Sarah, Graeme and Kirsty , are going to Auchterarder Airfield to attempt a tandem parachute jump from 10,000 feet. They are doing this in aid of Erskine Hospital who provide nursing and medical care for ex servicemen and women from past conflicts and also the most recent fighting in Afghanistsan.  They rely heavily on donations from the public. Any sponsorship would be welcome

This is the Sunday School’s main fund-raising event and the money is used to help various children’s projects throughout Scotland - last year, thanks to your help, we were able to make a difference to four other churches.

We greatly appreciate all the help and support we get from ex-teachers, parents and friends.  Anyone who’d like to help (you do not need to have green fingers) please contact Hilary or Douglas **
