TIME OUT GROUP On Thursday, 9th February we are hoping to have a talk from a representative of Erskine Homes, but this is yet to be confirmed. On Thursday, 23rd February we will be entering a team in the annual Church Quiz. We have our fingers crossed for a good result this year. For more details on any of our evenings, please contact Catherine or Moira EKWENDENI PROJECT The Ekwendeni Partnership Group of Churches is holding a Craft Table Top Sale in Busby Parish Church on Saturday 11th February from 10am till 12noon in aid of funds to complete the building of the two classrooms at Ekwendeni. Tickets are available at a cost of £2 per adult and £1 per child from Ian or Bill or from the church office. Further information can be had from Maureen **, a member of the committee, telephone number: 01355 228371. Bill and Ian CC TOO The Thursday Art Group, CC Too, has been wound up. Membership, never high, had dropped to a level where it wasn’t viable. As well as our usual small donation to the church we were able to give a donation to Paula Pinda who runs art and craft activities for residents of Williamwood, Adams and Eastwoodhill Houses. Paula will spend the money on supplies. Thanks to Stella Inglis for arranging for me to meet Paula who showed me some of the work the group does. She is hoping to arrange an exhibition in the New Year. Liz |
MAINTENANCE FITNESS CLASS, COWLEY HALL, MONDAYS @1PM. This class is aimed at people who already have a level of fitness (even if it’s a very low level) and want to either build on that fitness or maintain what they already have. The class will run on a circuit theme with a 15 minute warm up at the beginning followed by 30 minutes working at stations which are aimed to towards both cardiovascular fitness and muscular strength and endurance. We will then spend 15 minutes cooling down with some well earned stretching or maybe a little tai chi. Over the past 3 years I have gained a number of qualifications. In fact I feel as if I have never had my head out of a training manual!! I am now qualified in exercising people with a heart condition, pulmonary disease, osteoporosis, Parkinson’s disease, after stroke and cancer as well as some other co-morbidities. Anyone can join us, just come along. The class starts at 1pm but I do have a form that will need filled out before anyone can exercise so I advise arriving by 12.45pm to be screened. If anybody who would like to take part has a history of heart disease, they would be better to speak to me first as I might need them to gain written consent from their doctor.
