Child Protection
The Church of Scotland has a long and distinguished history
of caring, education and outreach to children and young people.
For the most part, this work is carried out by adult volunteers
who give of their time and expertise to relate to the young in
Sunday Schools, children's clubs, youth groups and uniformed
organisations. Some individuals in our society represent a threat
to children and we recognise that this responsibility is greater
than before. At Greenbank we have adopted and implemented the
Policy Statement and Code of Good Practice approved by the General
Assembly of the Church of Scotland. They are designed to make
the Church an even safer place for children and young people.
"It is the responsibility of each individual within
the fellowship of the Church to prevent the physical, sexual
or emotional abuse of children and young people."
From Policy Statement of General
assembly - May 1997
The Church of Scotland has information and consent forms for
use within Church organisations.
A general information and consent form should be completed
for each child attending any of our organisations, giving contact
details in the event of an emergency and necessary medical information.
In addition, forms should be completed if any children are
being taken to events outwith Greenbank, eg day trips to exhibitions
or activities and for weekend (or longer) camps and residential
holidays etc.
If you need supplies of the forms, please phone the Church
office (644 1841) with the number you require.
